I was a recording star!

At the last Christmas party at work, we were asked to think of a random, little know fact about ourselves.  These were all collated and then over the meal we all had to match the fact to the person.  As I work with my brother in law, thinking of something was quite difficult, as I knew I would have to go back over twenty years, prior to knowing him.  Then it came to me - I once was a recording star!

Yes when I was about seven or eight my primary school made a record and I sang in the lower junior choir.  I don't remember much about the day, apart from that it was during summer as it was a hot day.  We recorded it at a school - but not my school - it was one of the villages near by.  I can even remember the first few bars of the song we sang!  I think we actually sang two, but only one made the cut. As to why we made it, I have no idea but can only imagine that a parent must have had connections with the industry, as I think it was quite unique for a school to do such a thing back in the mid 1970's.  Sadly as we do not own a record player (does anyone!), I cannot play it for my family's enjoyment.

Anyway, no-one at work worked out that I was the recording star and I think many of my work mates didn't believe me.  However whilst searching through some boxes in the loft for something else this week, I found the record!  It will now be taken to work as proof, as my name is on the back of the sleeve along with all my fellow songsters!

I hope you enjoyed my story and if you want to read some more, pop over to Sians blog and find out who else has a story to tell.

Gosh, rubbing internet connections with famous recording artists ... what will be next! I look forward to hearing what the work mates say when you take in the album ... maybe one of them has a turntable somewhere?!

What a great story - I love the hidden gems that come out every month, the things I get to find out about everyone! This is a cracker! If you lived nearer me I'd be inviting you round for a listen because just yesterday my brother rescued an old record player from my mum's house and it is sitting in our kitchen!

Thank you for joining in Storytelling Sunday Lynn.

A great game to play at work - more interesting than the baby photo ones! Hope you can find a way to play the record and preserve it somehow!
