Story Telling Sunday: Our Christmas Tree

Not quite Sunday but a story nevertheless!

We have lived in our house for just over 18 years and to celebrate our first Christmas here we bought ourselves an artificial tree from B&Q.   It was the year before we got married, so money was fairly tight but we decided to splash out - I think we paid nearly £100 - which back in 1994 seemed like a fortune.  However I'm happy to report it was money well spent as it is still the same Christmas tree we bring out each year and it looks as good now as it did back then.

Christmas 2005 - waiting patiently to open their presents

Obviously over the years, decorations have changed and the children have grown up, but one thing that is constant in the back of many photos is "Our Christmas Tree".

Getting ready for Santa 2007

Last year we did have some debate about getting a new, taller tree which comes pre-lit but somehow I don't think we will  be able to give up our old favourite.

If you havn't already done so please pop over to Sian's to read some more stories.

Lynn, it's a pleasure to see you back storytelling this month :) Your tree is simply beautiful - I think it has improved with age and all those memories it has gathered up over the years. A great story. Thank you!

How lovely that your tree has proved such a good investment. Ours is 25 years old next year but does shed its "needles". Hubby and I wanted to replace it but the kids (eldest 22) protested as it's truly part of their lives. I'm nor sure that pre-lit trees will stand the test of time either ... we've got through several sets of lights in the last two decades!

I love that you all still love your Christmas trees...we have had pre-lit ones for about six or seven years now...they came over with us when we moved to Spain!

How nice to have a constant 'friend' and presence in your tree: I can see and hear how much it is loved!

Your tree has certainly aged well and I don't think you could ever replace it. It's lovely to see you back to blogging x
